BREEDING VALUE ESTIMATION OF HOLSTEIN - FRIESIAN BULLS USING RELATIONSHIP

Abstract

ln this paper best linear unbiased prediction (BLUP) of breeding values of 35 bulls, utilizing their relationship was determined. Research was carried out on 2189 milk trait records of their daughters. A simple lechnique for computing inverse of numerator relationship matrix (NRM) was presented. Considerable differences between estimating breeding values with and without incorporation NBM were found. Contrary to that, error standard deviations (se) were almost equal (milk yield: 1099. 3 and 1087'8; fat yield: 37.14 and 37.10.; and FCM: 952.7 and 952.4 for models without and with NRM. respectively).
