The effect of foliar fertilizers on yield and structure of potato tubers (Solanum tuberosum L.)

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of foliar fertilizers on yield and tuber number of potato and tuber structure by number and weight. Two-years experiments with three foliar fertilization treatments (Epso Salt, Drin and Megagreen) and control were conducted in three replications and arranged in a randomized split-plot design. Foliar fertilization was carried out five times during vegetation in the period from the start of tuber formation to the stage of full tuberization. Treatment Megagreen and control had significantly higher yield of potato tubers compared to other treatments. There was no significant effect of any treatments on the number and weight of 0-25 and 25-50 mm size tubers. Significantly lower number and weight of > 50 mm size tubers were found in Drin treatment compared to control. There were no significant differences in the number and weight of > 50 mm size tubers between the Epso Salt and Megagreen compared to control.
