Abstract

Tourism has become the most widespread phenomenon in international relations: off ering new destinations and new forms of arrangements, looking for new forms of organization, resources and strategies. Modern tourists are seeking for new forms of tourism, which have a compensatory eff ect in relation to the dynamic pace of modern living. Safety, health, environment and culture are considered to be factors that underlie modern tourist fl ows. With ghett oization and alternative tourism, the latest modern tourism trends are focused on the ecological approach to tourism, which is the most multiple appropriate perspective. The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has developed an eff ective technology development of sustainability indicators at the level of tourism destinations, which helps the planning and evaluation of all aspects of sustainable tourism at diff erent large spatial units.
