Abstract

Hazelnut plantation areas increase every year, and a successful production largely depends on protection against major pests. The aim of this paper is to review professional literature to show the most important pests of hazel. The most significant hazelnut pests are: Melolontha melolontha L., Curculio (Balaninus) nucum L., Phyllobius argentatus L., Oberea linearis Nal., Palomena prasina L., Myzocallis coryli Schr., Phytoptus avellanae L. The paper describes the biological and ecological characteristics of pests, and available crop protection measures.
