Abstract

In the research conducted during the year 2005/2006, Bay laurel’s (Laurus nobilis L.) abundance was investigated. Examined area was divided into four zones, in which 24 locations were examined. Bay laurel’s quantity and altitudinal distribution limits were recorded as well as the most valuable examples. The highest number of Bay laurel with diameter bigger than 10 cm was recorded in an unpopulated zone. Altitudinal distribution limits were observed at 220 – 350 m a.s.l. In the researched area, three most valuable specimens were documented with the height ranging from 10 to 16 meters and circumference from 57 to 155 cm. Data collected in this research could serve as a base for definition of the most endangered zones and for protection of the most valuable samples of Bay laurel in the researched area.
