Abstract
Physiological disorders in growth and development of tomato fruits are frequent problems in intensive tomato production, but they appear very often in a production for one’s own needs as well. The most frequent physiological disorder is a blossom- end rot which often appears on paprika fruits too, not only on tomato fruits. Except for blossom- end rot, during tomato cultivation there can appear the following physiological disorders: fruit cracking, a growth disorder – the so called cat- face, appearance of corky tissue strips on epidermis of the fruit and sun burns. It is important to mention that physiological disorders are not a consequence of pathogenic organisms’ activity, so it is necessary in prevention to pay attention to the whole array of agronomic factors: soil preparation, fertilization, choosing the sort/ hybrid, temperature of the soil and air, as well as the control of moisture in the soil.
