Abstract

A research was conducted, for the paper, in two countries in the South-Eastern Europe region, at multiple pedestrian crossing locations in order to determine the value of motorist yield rate (MYR). The data gathered at 32 locations were used to define a mathematical model for MYR depending on location characteristics and vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow characteristics. Using regression analysis method, six versions of the model were created. The chosen model was tested at six locations and the results showed that the model matches the empirical data very well. The mathematical model for calculation of MYR could be applied in operational and planned analysis of level of service (LOS) at pedestrian crossings.
