Abstract

For orchard-keepers autumn is a special part of the year when all their effort invested throughout the year in the maintenance and care of their orchards, is materialized as fruit that ripens throughout autumn. Therefore, the biggest part of the work in orchards relates to fruit picking. The fruit that is picked and collected needs to be stored properly so that it stays fresh as long as possible, and it is also one of the major work, even though it is not done directly in the orchard. Apart from that, autumn is the time when new fruit-trees are planted, be it in gardens, small family orchards, or in professional, big orchards. Before the fruit-trees are planted on the field chosen, the land needs to be prepared, fertilized, and holes for planting must be dug. There is also the preparation for winter protection, sowing grass in orchards and some other work.
First let us take a look at the overview of all the major work that is done in autumn months.
