Cold stored tray plant - novelty in strawberry production

Abstract

Cold stored tray plants (TP) and cold stored runner plants (A+) strawberry of short day cultivar ‘Raurica’ were planted on black and white one row plastic mulch in beginning of summer, year 2003. near Zagreb. Harvest of fruits started alredy 40 days after planting, and continued one months. Number of fruits, theirs avearage weight and yield per square meter were significantly higher by TP in relation on A+ plant. Yield of strawberries was higher on white plastic mulch in comparison with black plastic mulch. The best results was marked in combination of TP and white plastic mulch, where is yield higher than 10 t/ha of first class fruits. All this shows that cold stored tray plants have good perspective in strawberry production out of seson.
