Abstract

The purpose of this work was to determine dominant chronic diseases in workers employed in a tourist motor transportation company. The company is divided into three basic divisions: transportation of passengers, transport of goods, and repair of vehicles. All examined workers were of the male sex. They were either skilled or highly skilled workers. The prevalence of chronic diseases was analyzed with respect to the age of the workers, their qualifications and their occupations. Three groups of predominant chronic diseases were found: neurosis and psychoneurosis, alcoholism, and duodenal and gastric ulcer. The significance of the diseases and their possible dependence on age, qualification and working conditions are discussed.
