Abstract

Macroscopic and paleoradiological studies of archaeological human remains from the medieval cemetery Zvonimirovo (northern Croatia), in the context of an artificial antemortal opening/canal found on the right mastoid of an adult male (burial No. 3), confirmed that it is about a unique medicine-related trepanning. Apparently, such a rare (infratentorial) trepanation is valuable in the context of both Croatian and European bioarchaeology, even in a broader perspective.
