Abstract
The paper deals with the process of dephenolization of waste waters. Dephenolization is done with the equipment which consists of a phenol-oil separator, an equalizing basin with aeration and an aeration tank with active sludge. The phenol from waste waters is removed by separation, aeration and biodegradation. The pH, phenol, BOD, COD, nitrogen, phosphorus, sulphates, chloride, acetone, % of phenol biodegradation, TTC and resazurin test are permanently controlled (3 times a day in 10 positions). The effectiveness of the dephenolization equipment can be seen from the results of yearly phenol analysis of samples taken from the open main collector Zagreb-Ivanja Rijeka. The samples are taken upstream and downstream of OKI. The control of phenol biodegradation is permanent and strict. The amount of phenol after biodegradation does not surpass 100 mg/sec. taking into consideration the critical flow of municipal collector of 2 m3/sec and of the Sava river by Ivanja Rijeka of 50 m3/sec.
