Supervision - a form of support to professionals
Sunčana Kusturin
Abstract
Supervision as a form of support to professionals who work in the fields of education and providing psycho-socio-pedagogic help is one of the ways of preserving one’s mental health, improving one’s professional competences and the quality of the services they provide to their users. Supervision as such is virtually unknown and inaccessible to professionals in Croatia. The paper focuses on presenting supervision models, forms, contents and outcomes. A resistance to and obstacles that emerge in the process of implementing supervision are found at organisational, cultural and personal levels. Nevertheless, all thus-far supervision, supervision standards’ definition (through the Croatian Supervision Society) and supervisor education according to European standards have yielded good results, which is testified to by the results of supervision process evaluations (e.g. supervisions within the Social Work Study Centre, »Play« Association, etc.).
