Abstract

The rate of selected indicators of coronary heart disease was studied in a group of 1129 male workers aged 40-59. In these workers subjective symptoms indicative of coronary disease, selected electrocardiographic changes and arterial hypertension were analyzed. In 131 of them electrocardiographic patterns recorded after the loading test were also studied. The prevalence of coronary disease based on recorded subjective symptoms and electrocardiographic patterns was 8/1000. The hypertension rate was 276/1000. Subjective symptoms indicative of coronary heart disease showed no significant association with the electrocardiographic manifestations at rest indicative of the same disease. In a group of 131 subjects who underwent the loading test the prevalence of the disease was 38/1000. Subjective symptoms indicative of the disease were significantly associated with typical electrocardiographic changes recorded after the loading test.
