Abstract

The pollen beetle is the most important pest in oilseed rape crops in Croatia and it is essential that farmers are able to control this pest, especially in years when the economic damage threshold will be exceeded. About nine years ago, Croatian oilseed rape growers began reporting that the pyrethroids seemed to be losing effectiveness against pollen beetles. In 2013 and 2014 52 populations collected from winter oilseed rape fields were tested using IRAC susceptibility method No. 11. As a standard active ingredient was used pyrethroid lambda-cyhalothrin. It can be concluded that many Croatian populations of pollen beetles are resistant to the pyrethroid lambda - cyhalothrin and pyrethroids should not be used to control this pest.
