Abstract

Downy mildew of Lisianthus is a rare but very aggressive disease. During 2011, a severe infection on Lisianthus was recorded in Krapinsko-zagorska County. On infected plants, characteristic downy tufts of grey to blue-grey colour were noted on both leaf surfaces, and also on stem and flower buds. In some cases the entire plant was stunted, discoloured and distorted, after which the entire plantation was dug out and burned. As sytemic infection was observed on the majority of plants, it is presumed that the disease had spread via imported infected plants.
