Abstract

Late blight of potato, caused by Phytophthora infestans, is one of the most devastating diseases of potato worldwide. Late blight epidemics are associated with wet conditions and moderate temperatures. The average annual rainfall in Medjimurje potato production region of 837 mm and average annual temperature 10,62°C are a guarantee that potato late blight will appear on potato crops of varying intensity and damage it causes. In the area of intensive potato production (Belica) successful chemical control of Phytophthora infestans during the epidemics is possible only when three to five treatments using combined fungicides are applied. The possibility of reducing the usage of fungicides 30-80 % is possible if the "B1iteCast" forecasting model are used instead of the standard programmes or if we only rely on the producer's experience.
