Abstract

Potato brown rot and ring rot are caused by quarantine bacteria Ralstonia solanacearum (Smith) Yabuuchi et. al. and Clavibacter michiganensis (Smith) Davis et al. subsp. sepedonicus (Spieckermann et Kotthoff) Davis et al. These organisms are present in several European countries. They are still not confirmed in Croatia. As for many other bacterial diseases there are only preventive measures for their control, primarily use of healthy seed potato. Main characteristics of causal bacteria, disease symptoms and means of movement and dispersal are described.
