On "difficult words" in dictionaries

Abstract

"Difficult words" are taken to be those that the dictionary rnaker has to give special consideration to in having to decide whether to include them in the rnacrostructure of his/her work or not. They are "traditional" taboo words as well as those that have special ideological connotations in a speech community in a certain period. The author gives examples from the English lexicographical practice.
