Abstract

In the science of nursing there is a constant search for new opportunities, and new guidelines are being accepted about how to constantly increase the level of quality in health care and improve programs of continuous education. Today, the nurse must have a high level of acquired knowledge, expertise, high moral factors, and a significant level of motivation and creativity. Today, the nursing profession is recognized in the Croatian education system. Nursing is one of the professions which are regulated by the standards of education at the level of the European Union, specifically the provisions of Directive 2005/36EC. Graduate and PhD program for nurses are one of the most important changes in nursing education, because they contribute to the progress of nursing and health in general. HKMS (Croatian Chamber of Nurses) organizes permanent training of nurses/technicians, and issues licenses for independent work. Nurses on an annual basis must attend lectures, in order to acquire by the new knowledge and skills. Aside from the mandatory training required by the HKMS, nurses/technicians are turning to lifelong learning. HKMS issues an informative newsletter BLUE FOCUS, which aims to inform about the work of the chamber, news and issues in nursing practice.
The paper describes the course of permanent training of nurses/technicians in the County Hospital Čakovec, which takes place through lectures, telemedicine, seminars and conferences.
