Abstract

As a part of the study ·into the working conditions and condition of health of agricultural workers systematic examinations of 204 workers in the »Bečej« agricultural and processing plant at Bečej were carried out. Among ten leading diseases the most frequent were found to be the diseases of the locomotor system (pedes plani - 46,6%, kyphosis and scoliosis - 36,3%, low back pain and ischialgia - 20,6%), rheumatic diseases of the muscles and joints - 11,8% and respiratory diseases (chronic tonsillitis - 12,3% and chronic bronchitis - 9,3%), followed by the diseases of the heart and blood vessels (heart diseases - 11,3%, varices cruris - 5,4% and arterial hypertension - 4,5%). The highest rate was found for the nonspecific changes of the conjunctiva (chronic conjunctivitis - 52,9%). The data about these diseases are presented collectively for all examined workers and separately for particular groups of workers as related to their job. The rate of diseases is compared to the general morbidity pattern recorded in the health centre in which the examined workers receive treatment.
