Abstract

Diastereomeric oxoazetidinesulfinates IV were prepared from
penicillanate S,S-dioxide (Sulbactam) via sulfinic acid I and sulfinyl
chlorides II. Both epimers IVa and IVb gave the same oxoazetidinesulfonate V upon oxidation.
The lH NMR spectra of IVa and IVb correspond to those of
alfa- and beta-S-oxide of penicillanates.
