Abstract

With regard to the increasing application of oximes in the treatment of human organophosphate poisoning experiments were performed on mice in order to assess the toxicity of oximes of own production. Signs of poisoning caused by different oximes were on ·the whole very similar and obtained LD50 values were in good agreement with results of other authors, The therapeutic effect of PAM-2 PAM-3, PAM-4. PAM-2 Cl, P2S, TMB-4 Cl2, TMB-4 Br2, LüH6 Br2, MINA and DAM alone or applied together with atropine was determined in mice poisoned by armine. Under our experimental conditions the protective effect of TMB-4 was equal or slightly better than the effects of LüH6 Cl2 and LüH6 Br2. In comparison with other oximes, however. TMB-4 proved far better. The protective effect of P.S was weaker than expected since when applied with atropine it offered protection only against 4 LD50 of armine, while PAM-2 and P AM-2 Cl protected animals against 30 LD50 of armine.
