Inhibitors of the catalytic oxidation of indole

Abstract

The inhibitory effect is studied of some organic and inorganic compounds on the oxidation of indole that occurs under the in influence of sodium perborate in the presence of methyl paraoxon, an organophosphorous compound, as the promoter of the reaction. Concentrations for 500/o inhibition are determined for each inhibitor. The character of the quenching curves is analysed by the Stern-Volmer hyperbolic equation.
