Results of examinations of workers exposed to hard metal dust

Abstract

33 workers exposed to the inhalation of hard metal dust in the production of »Velebit« tiles have been examined. Another case of pneumoconiosis (the third in the exposed group) has been discovered. Investigating the pathogenesis of the disease on the basis of our own results, it is not possible to confirm that it is only a question of an allergic reaction, nor is it possible to state that the incriminated cobalt is the carrier of antigenic properties, so that the question of the toxic action of cobalt still remains unsolved.
