Abstract

A group of 45 fire-clay workers exposed ait work to plastic phenol formaldehyde resin has been observed. Frequent occurrence of dermatoses has been noticed, particularly in the places coming into direct contact with the resin. 22 workers showed signs of the primary contact dermatitis, while one worker developed alergic eczema. This was objectively confirmed by a positive epicutane test on the liquid phenol formaldehyde component of the resin. Significance of industrial safety measures has been pointed out.
