On some home assembled air sampling equipment

Abstract

A few different constructions of home assembled air sampling equipment are described. Three modifications of diaphragm type pumps are used in these constructions: (1) a small compressor for aeration of aquaria, actuated by an electromagnet, for low resistance, flow rates up to 2.5 lpm, and continuous work, (2) a home made pump driven by an electromotor, for higher resistance and flow rates up to 12 lpm, and (3) a home 'made pump driven by an electromotor supplied from a 6 V storage battery for collection of air samples where the external electric sources are not available.
