Abstract

The aim is to identify the condition of production capacity and structure of organic farming, organic products market and the legal framework of organic farming in the Republic of Croatia. Using SWOT analysis we identified the main factors that affect or may affect the possibilities of organic farming development in the Republic of Croatia in the medium term. During the eleven-year period (2005-2015) it was recorded a significant increase in production area and the number of farms involved in organic farming in Croatia, indicating a heightened interest farms for this production system. Agro ecological resources with which Croatia has could enable organic agricultural production in a much larger scale. SWOT analysis has identified thirty (30) elements that affect or may affect the development of organic agriculture in the Republic of Croatia in the medium term, of which six (6) strengths, eleven (11) weaknesses, eight (8) opportunities and five (5) threats.
