Abstract
In order to get some information about the error made in dose estimations due to fading, several sets of 5 Adox Dosis and 5 Adox Radium films were exposed to doses from 100 to 3,200 mr in a single exposure or repeatedly within an eight-week period. All the films were developed simultaneously and doses calculated with reference to a dose-density calibration curve obtained from a set of films subjected lo a single exposure the day before development. The readings were expressed in percentage of the actual dose. Correction factors by which the dose readings must be multiplied to give the actual doses, were calculated. For the films exposed repeatedly, day by day, within four weeks and developed three days after the last exposure - as is the case with film badge service - the correction factor was found to be 1.15 for Adox Radium films and 1 for Adox Dosis films. If for some reasons the film cannot be developed after the usual four weeks interval, but only after the next one (i. e. after eight weeks) without being subjected to further exposure during the second interval, the correction factor for Adox Radium films is 1.3, whereas ·in the case of eight weeks' exposure it is 1.25.
