Abstract

Lower fuel consumption is one of the important factors for sustainable agriculture, which in addition to achieving significant savings has a positive direct impact on the environment (reduction of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere). The study covers the analysis of data on registered tractors and the total number of tractors in Slovenia and Croatia. Thus, in Slovenia at the end of 2016 was registered 108,914 tractors, and in Croatia, 114,313 tractors. Estimation of fuel consumption in agriculture was made on the basis of refund requesting of excise duty on fuel used. For reduce fuel consumption measures, in this study, as key factors cited are: proper selection of connecting shaft for the operation with connecting machines, which achieved savings of 10.7% and two ways of cargo transport, where the fuel savings ranged between 20 and 27%.
