Trends in Power Transformer Failure Analysis

Abstract
This article will introduce the reader to the importance of failure investigations, discuss the need for guidelines and the standards organisations work that is underway to provide the guidelines.
The concept of using the Scientifc Method is introduced and existing processes are described.
Limitations of postmortem investigations are identifed along with best practices for investigations.
