Abstract

The author briefly shows the normal course of the general adaption syndrome as well as the pathological deviations that may occur because of the abnormal mechanism of this process. The problems of the stimulation of pituitary, the role of vitamin C in adrenocortical activity and the utilization of corticoides are described in main lines. At the end the author sets forth a critical appraisal of Seyle's theory as put forward by other authors. The article has been written for the purposes of occupational physiology and purports to acquaint experts in industrial medicine with Seyle's theory.
