Abstract

The author reviews the problem or pneumoconiosis in Great Britain. After a brief historical introduction the following topics are discussed: trades affected (free silica exposure, silicate exposure, mixed stone dust exposure, mixed stone and carbon coal dust exposure); classification of pneumoconiosis by X-rays (simple pneumoconiosis, progressive massive" fibrosis); pathology of pneumoconiosis: pneumoconiosis research (physical, chemical, biological and medical).
