Lumbermen settlements in the Soviet Union

Abstract

The article describes the method of building settlements for lumbermen and employees of the lumber industries in the Soviet Union. Details, which have to be taken into consideration when building such settlements (such as choice of land, size of land, number of workmen and employees - seasonal and permanent - the needs of the future inhabitants etc.) are fully described. Plates show types of buildings intended for such purposes, and the cost of construction is given. There is further described the method of moving such cabins from the place of work to another. In our country the production of prefabricated movable cabins for workmen has begun, and their working conditions is lonely, far away places will be thereby much improved.
