Ban of rodenticide use on agricultural land and its consequences

Abstract

Many damages are made by field rodents on different agricultural crops. Integrated pest management is common in rodent control including agrotechnical measures as well as preservation of natural enemies. Due to a high field rodent population, rodenticides have to be used in some situations. Mentioned are most common field rodents and increasing population abilities as consequences after use of rodenticides was banned in 2015 on agricultural crops. Financial and quantitative losses appear if no control measures against field rodents are performed. High rodent population can have influence on human health. Misuse is possible due to the rodenticides registered as biocides. According to the regulations explained is administrative procedure in urgent situation and application method. Due to the registration of bromadiolone for use on non‐crop areas mentioned is possible profit of rodent control on them and influence of less effective agro‐technical and biological measures on decrease of damages compared to rodenticides.
