Abstract

The insecticide pest resistance has been a problem for over past 70 years and affects all stakeholders involved in the process of agricultural production. IRAC is an international working group that monitors insect resistance in the world. The key role of IRAC is to ensure long‐term effectiveness of insecticides, to promote the development and implementation of resistance management strategies and to support sustainable agriculture and public health. This paper presents the IRAC organization and mode of operation as well as the analysis of eight economically significant pests with risk of resistance in the Republic of Croatia and associated active substances for their suppression. In order to reduce the resistance, it is necessary to take account of amendments to insecticides with different mode of action, with the emphasis to the advisory role of the experts.
