Abstract

The paper presents the AHP method (analytical hierarchical process) of multi criteria assessment as foundation to expert decision making on the example of ranking dangerous sections of the road network in Međimurje County. It outlines one of the most recognized methods of multi criteria analysis of scenarios for making complex decisions by means of consistent assessment of the model consisting of the optimization objective, scenario, criteria and alternatives. Ranking of critical sections of road network in terms of safety is a problem of multi criteria decision making, which includes qualitative and quantitative criteria and is of utmost importance while defining priorities in fixing dangerous sections in the county road network, which would lead to significant increase of safety for all participants in road traffic. Selected AHP method of multi criteria assessment is presented based on the example of finding the solution for ranking dangerous sections of road network in Međimurje County by means of using the tool »Expert Choice«.
