Laparoscopic urological surgery: experiences of the department of urology, general hospital Zadar

Abstract
We are presenting our own experiences in urologic laparoscopy. At the Department of Urology, General Hospital Zadar, laparoscopic surgical treatment was performed for the first time in June 2003. Since then we have done following laparoscopic procedures: varicocelectomy, ureterolythotomy, pyeloplasty, simple and radical nephrectomy, retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy, radical prostatectomy. Our results in laparoscopic surgery are generally comparable with results in open surgery. Median operating time was initially significantly longer, however as we were gaining experience it has been reducing noticeably. Overall results of laparoscopic surgery are better cosmetic effect, shorter hospitalisation, lesser postoperative morbidity and faster recovery.
