Abstract

Adenoid cystic carcinoma appears in less than 1% of all head and neck tumour cases and makes up 10% of all salivary gland tumours. It develops and grows slowly, it is likely to occur again and form metastases in the end. However, one can live with it for quite a long time. The article deals with a patient suffering from adenoid cystic carcinoma of the left parotid. The first symptom was paresis of facial nerve, which appeard two years before final diagnosis could be made.
