Abstract

This article presents comparison between treatment of the localised prostate carcinoma with a classical open radical prostatectomy (O-RP), extraperitoneal (E-LRP) and transperitoneal (T-LRP) laparoscopic prostatectomy. 110 radical prostatectomies were performed in the period from 2002 until 2008, 40 of which were open, whereas 70 were laparoscopic. Results of our comparison show that today laparoscopic methods find their place in treatment of localised prostate carcinoma; and having in mind the advantages of minimally invasive surgical approach as well as the accelerated development of technology and methods, we find that they will take the leading role in surgical treatment in the future.
