Abstract

This article provides clinical studies which
have over the years proven the effi ciency and safety of azithromyicin
in the treatment of prostatitis caused by C. trachomatis
and U. urealyticum. The administration of azithromycin in the
total dose of 4.5 g over three weeks, i.e. 1x500 mg per day
during three days, or the total dose of 4.0 g in a single 1x1 g
dose over 4 weeks, is used to treat acute, chronic and asymptomatic
prostatitis due to C. trachomatis and U. urealyticum.
