Abstract

We have analyzed VS. CT guided punctional biopsy cases performed at the Osijek Clinical Hospital in the last two year (1996 - 1997). There were 44 patients, 32 male and 12 female. The most targeted organs were liver (62.5%), pancreas (14.6%) and spleen (6.2 5%). The biopsies were performed with common biopsy needles (True Cut, Vacu Cut, Otto ) or with automatic devices (Auto vac, Magnum). The material was classified according to : the gender and age of patients, the type and thickness of biopsy needles, the quality of tissue sample, and the way of the punctional needle guidance. The statistical data analysis does not show significant difference in a tissue sample quality regardless of either the punctional needle thickness, or the guidance with the ultrasound or CT.
