Abstract

In the current practice of the study of environmental impact in the Republic of Croatia, there is a lack of geodiversity analysis as an abiotic component of the environment. The aim of the paper is to demonstrate the importance of geodiversity and the role of geomorphology in geoecological evaluation and analysis of possible environmental impacts. With the selected methods of cabinet and field work involving geomorphological analysis, the relative relief evaluation method and application of GIS tools, the intrinsic value of the relief is quantified. The results of these analyzes are the basis for interpreting geodiversity as one of the environmental components. This was applied in the elaboration of the chapter "Geodiversity" within the Environmental Impact Study of hydropower plants Kosinj and Senj 2.
