Abstract

Aim: To report the treatment procedures we have done in respiratory insufficiency caused by a mixed laryngocele.
Case report: The paper describes two patients with symptoms of respiratory insufficiency caused by a mixed laryngocele, i.e. laryngomucocele. In both patients we tried to relieve the respiratory distress by needle aspiration which was successful in the case of laryngomucocele. In the second patient, the tracheotomy was performed and the subsequent laryngocele surgery was performed.
Conclusion: A patient with laryngocele should be approached individually depending on the symptoms. Respiratory symptoms can be alleviated by needle aspiration and the contents extracted. The laryngocele operation with external access provides the best view of the laryngocele body and neck, which is a condition for successful cure.
