Abstract
This paper gives an overview of the state of the art research in the field of knowledge management, based on the articles with the key word ”knowledge management” at the conference on design (DESIGN 2014). First, it illustrates key obstacles to knowledge management which is necessary to be aware of when implementing knowledge management systems in companies. Obstacles affect the selection of the knowledge map model of the company that will be used during implementation. The methodology for
the systematic improvement of knowledge of the company through defining goals, creating a map of the existing and desired knowledge and choice of measures for the advancement of the current to the desired state is described. One of the possible methods of evaluation of knowledge of the company is presented including the overview of the modes of transmission of knowledge, i.e. communication among co ‒ workers on a project that takes place in a global setting.
