Abstract

Professional development in the workplace and outside it and lifelong learning are vital for high quality job performance. The acquisition and improvement of new skills and knowledge is achieved through continuous training and various forms of education. The concept of lifelong learning and professional development is increasingly accepted by the people who want to be more competitive in an increasingly demanding labour market. Lifelong learning begins at a very early age and continues throughout one’s career and professional development of an individual can only be achieved by his/her adaptation to new conditions, trends and rules and by his/her active participation in all forms of the social and economic life. The necessity of lifelong learning and training in the workplace has been recognised in the profession of nursing. This paper will present an analysis of continuous training of nurses in a Nursing home for elderly and infirm.
