Abstract

The article gives new data about the site where the great Bosnian gold coins were found, in Hisardžik village near Prijepolje. After a concise survey of other hoards of ancient coins in Polimlje follows a detailed analysis of all data available about the location of hoards of gold and silver coins not far from Mileševa Monastery. Then follows a short presentation of the most important interpretations of the great Bosnian gold coin or the fourfold ducat. Finally, the author discusses the historical
circumstances under which two of the oldest medieval hoards of coins in Polimlje could have been formed.
