Pathological mammal secretion and breast cancer
Josip Fajdić
Abstract
The basic aim of this study is to point out the significance of the pathological mammal secretion as an early symptom of the occult breast cancer. The research has been conducted for 10 years at the Medical Centre of Slavonska Požega, including 625 women with mammal secretion, aged 17 — 84, of whom 41 (6,56 %) had sanguinal secretion. The results refer to two main age groups: the premenopausal and postmenopausal one. The author gives a detailed review of the radiological and cytological symptomatology of intraductal proliferative changes with nipple secretion as well as of the complete diagnostics analysis (clinical check —up, native mammography, cytodiagnostics, galactography, basic hormonal analysis and surgery with pathohistological analysis), thus trying to solve the enigma of the relevance of sanguinal secretion as the marker of surgically curable intraductal breast cancer. The study explored in full detail the statistical coincidence of mammal secretion and some generally recognized risks in the breast cancer development. The pathohistological examination of the bioptic material discovered 4 carcinomas (9.7 %), 21 papillomas (51.2 %), 14 dysplasias (34.1 %) and 2 epithelioses (4.8 %). The obtained results are discussed in correlation with the results of the similar research projects by numerous authors in the last few decades. The conclusions of the study undoubtfully confirm the significant link between the symptom of mammal sanguinal secretion and intraductal epithelial proliferative changes as well as the breast cancer originating on this basis.
