Abstract

Effective renal plasma flow (ERPF, 131-1 hippuran clearence) was calculated in 6 apparently healthy volunteers, (a) by the single compartment kinetic model according to Blaufox et al.; (b) by the empirical method according to Schlegel and Gates; and (c) by the solid-diffusion kinetic model according to Cerar et al. The obtained values were compared with renal clearence directly determined in steady state during prolonged infusion of the radiopharmaceutical.
Correlation factors and slopes of regression lines were as follows:
Blaufox et al.: 0.780 and 35°
Schlegel and Gates: 0.529 and 36°
Cerar et al.: 0.805 and 47°
