Abstract

The authors compare the relation of ORL injuries and cervicofacial area within two ten—year periods before (1959—1968) and during (1975—1984) the epidemics of traffic traumatism. The analysis points to a considerate increase of a total number of injuries (890 index points) while the nose injuries (467,5 index points), upper, middle and lower third of the face injuries support this trend as well. Not the number of injuries so much but thir complexity call to attention (2466.6 index points) politrauma, schock, comotion—contusion syndrome (1250 index points). The therapy should consist of immediate intensive antischock, anticomotion and antimicrobic measures. The complexity of injuries would call for additional diagnostic methods. Complete and correct diagnosis as well as primary surgery, which has to be definite, lessened the number of unwished complications considerably.
